BALM Bereavement And Loss Meetings

BALM is a branch of the Parish of the Upper Skerne Bereavement Support Service. (The other branch is One Step Forward, based in Sedgefield.) We offer support by providing group sessions and scheduled telephone appointments.

Although the service is supported by our Church of England parish, we do not operate as ‘religious’ groups, and people of any or no faith are all welcome. The church, however, supports the service and provides training for listeners as well as organising the required safeguarding training and DBS checks.

Referrals come mostly from NHS departments and we work with people from throughout County Durham. People can also self-refer for telephone or group support.

There are 2 groups, each meeting monthly. One is held at Bishop Middleham Village Hall and the other at The Ladder Centre, Ferryhill. Telephone sessions are by appointment and are arranged individually as needed.
