The team responsible for delivering our visitor attractions is Visitor Operations (VO). Volunteer roles in VO include greeting visitors and engaging with them across various attractions, including Auckland Palace, The Faith Museum, the Spanish and Mining Art Galleries, and Auckland Tower. Its all about the visitor experience.
If you enjoy interacting with people, this is the team for you. No prior experience or qualifications are necessary for volunteering in this area—don't worry, we don't expect you to be an art expert or history buff. Instead, it's an opportunity to acquire new skills.
We are particularly looking to engage individuals who are available to volunteer on weekends. Recruitment and induction sessions will be scheduled accordingly.
We believe these volunteer roles are perfect for individuals who:
- Are 17 years or older
- Possess excellent communication skills and are comfortable initiating conversations with people of all ages
- Radiate a welcoming, approachable, and helpful demeanour
- Are proactive, positive, and committed to providing an excellent visitor experience
- Are enthusiastic and willing to learn
- Are reliable, well-presented, friendly, and polite
- Are comfortable collaborating as part of a team
- Are able to undertake activities both independently and under supervision
Saturdays and Sundays We try to be flexible and whilst volunteers volunteering once a week is ideal for us we are happy if its once a fortnight or less, however lets discuss, we do ask volunteers to commit to volunteer shifts that they have signed up to.
We ask Volunteers to take online essential training modules, and then training is dependent on the role/area. Induction sessions form part of the training.
Regrettably we can not reimburse travel expenses at this time.
Volunteers are issued with an annual pass for themselves to our visitor attractions within Bishop Auckland.
When you apply through Co Durham Volunteering Portal we will contact you with a link to our online volunteer application form
