The role is to help assist with the management of the warehouse section within the Forces Support charity shop within Newgate Shopping Centre, Bishop Auckland.
Ensuring the site is tidy, stock is kept safe, accessible. Furniture moving skills essential, as the primary source of income within the site is Furniture. However, there is racking full of Bric & Brac, and rails of clothing within the area that also need managing. Regular donations are also coming over the door, so it is helping to assist specific places for items to keep the H&S of the site to a high standard.
This is a great opportunity to learn new skills, working alongside likeminded people for an amazing cause.
Working within the warehouse side of the store. This includes tidying and cleaning, but primarily ensuring stock is safe and secure, no trip hazards, well presented ready for the shop floor, and keep on top of waste management.
Good communication skills, a willingness to learn, and work as part of a team.
Able to work alone in the space if needed, so self-motivation would be a key skill.
Training will be given, along with support.

We offer on site training, and are looking to expand this into outsourcing training ie NVQ levels etc.
We offer flexible volunteering hours- essentially Micro Volunteering, this allows volunteers to do as little or as much as the feel able. 30 mins to 8 hours in any one day.
We support bereaved families across the country, but also support many local veterans, and partnerships , all because of the invaluable work our volunteers do.
You gain, friendships, skills, confidence in meeting new people of varying ages, backgrounds and abilities.
We also look to recruit from our volunteers where possible when roles become available within our stores, so it is an opportunity to boost your CV and work towards a new career path.
We only have volunteers 18 years or over, due to insurance within the buildings, and staff usually lone-working.
We work in the stores for all our roles.
