Volunteer Receptionist

Ferryhill

To assist a busy community center and its very busy staff by welcoming and directing visitors. Carry out some basic administration tasks on behalf of the staff and answer the telephone and take messages.

Responsibilities

Answering the telephone and directing calls or taking messages on behalf of staff. Greeting visitors to the center and directing them to staff or required location. Some basic admin duties might be required and will be given by staff as and when required.

Skills & Qualities

Some customer service experience will be an advantage but not essential. The ability to talk to visitors who may have some learning disabilities will be an advantage but this can be learned with experience, however a good friendly telephone voice and a polite manner are essential.

When & Where?

One morning a week from 9am till 1pm approx. (some flexibility can be agreed)
Ferryhill Ladder Centre, Coniston House, 5-7 Coniston Road, Ferryhill, County Durham DL17 8EZ

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

We will enroll you on an appropriate online course to help you through your volunteering. You will receive ongoing support from staff and from our part time Volunteer Coordinator.
Expenses can be discussed.

Volunteer Benefits

Once registered with the Ladder Centre you will be welcomed as part of the Ladder Centre family. You will receive invitations to any events or training that we have available providing it is appropriate to you. You will have the use of our I.T suite when not volunteering to complete your training or to do job search. You can access support from the staff in relation to job search etc.
Some days dinner is made for staff and volunteers when there is a volunteer in the kitchen.
