To offer companionship to lonely and isolated people within Teesdale , to improve their self confidence, emotional health and wellbeing , reducing their social isolation and promoting their independence.
Visiting the isolated person with whom you have been matched in their home , building a relationship of friendship and trust. Engaging in any hobbies as appropriate.
To be reliable and have a genuine interest in improving the lives of others
To have good communication skills
To have patience and a warm, positive, open and friendly attitude
1.5 to 2 hours per week or fortnight.
visiting to be within the isolated person's home within Teesdale
volunteers will be expected to attend a short training course - covering such topics as the impact of social isolation, communication skills and boundaries. All travel expenses will be reimbursed.
