We’re Rethink Mental Illness, a leading charity provider of mental health services in England. We support thousands of people through our groups, services, policy, campaigns and advice and information. Our work supports us in delivering on our mission: “A better life for everyone severely affected by mental illness.”
We are currently seeking Volunteer Advocates to support our County Durham Advocacy service.

• Supporting people by enabling them to find information, understand their rights and choices, have a voice and make their own informed decisions.
• May be supporting people in making difficult or important decisions which may impact on their quality of life and independence and have long term consequences.
• Supporting people to deal with particular issues.
• Good communication and listening skills,
• The ability to empathise with others,
• Ability to ask sensitive questions to make sure you understand the issue fully,
• Ability to question and challenge in an assertive but professional manner,
• Be comfortable to ask for help and support,
• Knowledge or personal experience of issues affecting vulnerable adults
Currently home based and remotely working, Computer or laptop will be required, work phone will be provided.
You will need your own, computer or laptop, and be willing to download Rethink secure software.
Work phone will be provided.
DBS will be required, Rethink to cover cost.
Travel expense paid.
