To work with the Durham Dales Parish Nursing project at a strategic level, to improve the mental health support available in the rural areas of Teesdale and Weardale.
Durham Dales Parish Nursing provides mental health support for people living in the Durham Dales area, with an emphasis on whole-person support, including spiritual care.
Eighteen months into the work, the project has made a significant difference to people living and working in this rural area of County Durham, joining up medical and social care, providing mental and spiritual support and advocating for people who are struggling. Having seen the success of the work, we are now looking to move the project forward, employing a second Parish Nurse alongside our partners, Parish Nursing Ministries UK, and Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services. To do this, we are looking for additional (voluntary) trustees to strengthen our small board.
Working at a strategic level and building our capacity to deliver our core activities, we would ask for your support with attending four meetings each year and occasional decision making in-between meetings
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the challenges facing people living in rural areas, and in particular we are looking for someone with experience of managing finances, and someone with HR experience. Previous trustee experience is valued, but not essential, and most importantly, trustees must be sympathetic to the Christian ethos of the work and care deeply about the quality of life of people living in rural areas.
Quarterly meetings, usually at UTASS offices in Middleton in Teesdale, with some work from home.
All out of pocket expenses can be reimbursed, and training is available in any area volunteers feel they may benefit.
