Darlington & District Talking Newspaper (DDTN) is a volunteer-run charity providing local news and general information to people who are unable to read a newspaper for themselves, either because of visual impairment or another disability.
Every Wednesday we record the local news and other information of interest to our listeners, we are looking for a volunteer Producer to run the recording sessions.
The producers check the equipment each week, including microphones, the mixing desk and computers. Then they take charge during the recording process, reading announcements, stopping and editing out mistakes as necessary, dividing the recording into tracks and once the recording is complete creating a master copy.
You must have reasonable PC skills and be willing to learn. An interest in sound engineering or amateur recording would be useful but not essential. Full training will be given.
Producers work a 5 week rota, attending the DDTN Office in Darlington on Eastmount Road on Wednesday late afternoon or evening for about 3 hours.
Full training is available.
If you are interested in this unpaid role please listen to our recordings at darlingtontalkingnewspaper.uk.
