We’re offering exciting volunteer roles within our Gift Shop, Ticket Sales, and ticket check, where you’ll have the chance to make a real impact on our visitors’ experience.
Retail, we have gift shops in all our venues. Ticket sales supporting customers to get the right ticket for them. Ticket Check, ensuring visitors who arrive at the Palace state entrance are warmly welcomed.
These roles are perfect for individuals who:
- Are 18 years or older.
- Have a welcoming, friendly, and helpful attitude
- Are proactive and committed to providing an excellent visitor experience
- Are enthusiastic about learning and growing in a new role
- Are reliable, well-presented, and enjoy working with people
- Can collaborate well as part of a team
- Can work independently and under supervision when needed
We operate our visitor venues Wed to Sunday 10.30 to 16.00 ( Feb to Dec) Volunteer shifts for these roles are am and pm. We use a volunteer management system that gives volunteers the opportunity to sign up to shifts.
Initial chat and Induction will help to support volunteers into the right role for them. We provide online training to support knowledge development as well as access to briefing notes. We recommend Shadow shifts to help understand the role.
Regrettably we can not reimburse travel expenses at this time.

Volunteers are issued with an annual pass for themselves to our visitor attractions within Bishop Auckland.
