Ushaw has four acres of formal gardens and is a source of pleasure and inspiration to thousands of visitors each year. The gardens are an integral part of the history of the College with an abundance of rhododendrons, trees, shrubs and wildflowers and we need your help to maintain them.
No two days are ever the same at Ushaw Historic House Chapels and Gardens so you need to be prepared to get involved.
The ability to be visible, approachable, to engage and share information, and to assist visitors with their enquiries is a fundamental aspect of the role.
The Gardening Team maintains the formal gardens, undertaking a range of horticultural tasks such as deadheading, weeding, planting, pruning, watering, potting and sowing seed.
There are opportunities to get involved with other events and activities that occur at Ushaw.
An interest in gardens, history and the great outdoors. A team player with the ability to take direction and positively contribute to garden priorities. Compliance with health and safety instructions. To interact with visitors in an engaging manner and sharing information with our visitors in relation to all aspects of the gardening project.
