Cub Scout Section Assistant ie maker of adventures and role model for young people

Lanchester, Consett, Langley Park, Stanley, Durham City

Working with an experienced Cub Scout Leader to deliver sessions and activities for 8-10 year old Cubs in order for them to achieve their badges, develop self-confidence and learn life skills.

Responsibilities

With support from our team, you could:
• Welcome young people and families to sessions and events
• Make sure everyone's safe, supported, included and having fun
• Help to plan and lead activities
• Get involved with days out, hikes, camps and expeditions
• Share and learn skills – from coding to knots
• Celebrate young people's achievements big and small.

Skills & Qualities

No previous experience required, just enthusiasm.

This role is subject to a DBS check and mandatory training in e.g. safeguarding, health and safety and GDPR. However these are life skills that can transfer to both your personal and/or professional life.

When & Where?

We meet weekly during term time, Tuesdays 18:30 - 20:00.
Scout Hut HQ, Annfield Plain near Stanley in County Durham.

The Scouts is completely volunteer run and we realise that Scouting is on top of the day job and family life, but many hands make light work. We are a friendly, inclusive, dedicated and supportive team and would love you to join us, in any capacity you might be able to help.

Whether you'd like to help out week-after-week or whenever-you-can, we provide training, learning opportunities and cups of tea – every step of the way. If you can only occasionally help, that’s OK. Whether you’d like to be an activity planner, hike motivator, speaker organiser, biscuit monitor or craft-creator, we appreciate any time you can spare.

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

Training and support is provided.

Expenses for materials, tickets etc. are reimbursed on receipt. Unfortunately we are unable to offer travel expenses.

Other Information

We need new volunteers to support all our Sections as we have a small leadership team of only one Scout Leader / two Cub Leaders / one Beaver Leader and one Beaver Section Assistant. We also have a fabulous parent who helps to maintain the hut and grounds.

We have other roles for adults who prefer to volunteer with Beavers (6-8 years), Scouts (11-14 years) and Trustee positions.
