To provide a friendly atmosphere for older people taking part in Age UK County Durham's activities so that they can meet together and enjoy a variety of activities and each other’s company. • To promote and be involved with activities which may include helping at events in local communities
• Assist with planning of activities or sessions where appropriate
• To support a regular activity for a group of older people
• To encourage social interaction between members
• To encourage members in a social activity as a means of staying/keeping fit and/or healthy/encouraging mental well being
• To escort members on day trips and visits

Age UK County Durham activities run on a weekly or monthly basis and times vary depending on individual activities.
Volunteers are required to complete the organisation’s volunteer induction and any other training identified as applicable to this role. The organisation provides appropriate insurance for all volunteers whilst they are undertaking their role. However, it is your responsibility to inform your car insurance provider that you will be using your car to carry out voluntary work. Travel expenses are available and will be paid up to a pre-agreed limit.
